Rats in Mindanao

EIGHT barangays of Paquibato District in Davao remain under a state of calamity as the City Government and residents continue to place the outbreak of field rats under control, the Davao City Agriculturist's Office (CAO) said.

Leonardo R. Avilla III, officer-in-charge of CAO, said rehabilitation work is ongoing and affected residents are getting assistance from the city after losing their crops to rats and other pests.

They have not set a date on when the calamity state will be lifted, saying they will recommend such to the mayor only after their field personnel will say that there is no longer need for assistance.
