Trouble again in Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines- More than 6,000 civilians have fled their homes in Kabacan, North Cotabato as fierce clashes between a group of armed men believed to be members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rage on.
Many of those who fled live in Barangays Nanga-an and Simone, Kabacan, North Cotabato.
The evacuees are now staying in tents at the Datu Mantawil Memorial Elementary School, where some 6,540 individuals are now residing.
Social welfare officials in Kabacan town said relief operations are ongoing. Evacuees have been given food, medicine and beddings but the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) told ABS-CBN Cotabato that relief goods may soon run out.
The affected residents have appealed to the leadership of both the MNLF and the MILF to end the fighting so they can live normal lives.
