Caesar Erel O. Macahilig was born in 1971 in the Davao City, Philippines. From 1971 to the present he lived in the peaceful and progressive city of Davao, where he went to a Catholic Jesuit school, Ateneo de Davao University; and – in 1993 – completed a B.S. Electrical Engineering. He became a licensed Registered Electrical Engineer the same year he graduated from college. He is currently working at the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines as a Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance Officer. He is an active member of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) of the Philippines and he is a Member of the Board of Directors of the IIEE Davao Chapter. Although his mother tongues are Cebuano and Tagalog, he is a native speaker of the English language because of having been educated in an English-speaking academic institution.
Having a natural affinity with languages, Caesar combines his skills in this area with his engineering background as a freelance technical translator. He started part time freelance translator work in 2008 for English to Tagalog, English to Cebuano, Tagalog to English, and Cebuano to English language pairs. He also conducted Cebuano Language class to a group of expats living in Davao City.
He continues to develop both his technical and his linguistic knowledge as a part time freelance translator with satisfied customers such as Avant Assessment of Oregon, USA (March 2009 to November 2009 - 14,461 words translated); and Cyberstream Philippines, Inc., Philippines (January 2010 – Present - 59,832 words translated and counting).
